HIT MAN(NY): Manny Machado collected his AL-leading 51st double Tuesday, the second-most in MLB history by a player in his age-20 or younger season (Alex Rodriguez, 54 in ‘96)…He is on pace for 54 doubles, two shy of Brian Roberts’ 2009 club record of 56…Machado is just the third Oriole to record a 50-double season, joining Roberts (2004, 2008-09), and Miguel Tejada (2005)…According to Elias, the only other players to hit 50 doubles in a season as a third baseman are Detroit's George Kell (56 in 1950), Colorado's Jeff Cirillo (53 in 2000) and Cincinnati's Pete Rose (50 in 1978)…Machado is the second-youngest player to reach 50 doubles in one season (regardless of fielding position) as he did it 70 days past his 21st birthday, but Rodriguez hit his 50th double of the season 43 days after he turned 21 years old in 1996 (Rodriguez was a shortstop at the time).
