Message from Fr. Davy’s desk: This weekend we celebrate the solemnity of Christ the King. It is time for us to meditate upon the Kingship of Jesus and his kingdom. The first reading from the book of Ezekiel talks about God as the shepherd of Israel. The kings of Israel were regarded as God's visible representatives and were given the divine title of shep- herd. But many of them did not live up to this responsibility. Their leadership style differed from God's style. God's style was that of giving priority of attention to the needs of the disadvantaged. Jesus is present to us now, not only as our good shepherd leading, feeding and healing his sheep, but also as dwelling in those for whom we care. The parable of the Last Judgment in the Gospel is the most astounding of all of the parables that Jesus told. In the Last Judgment, Jesus reminds us to get ready to answer "yes" to his six questions based on our acts of charity. "I was hungry, thirsty, naked, homeless, sick, imprisoned; did you help Me?" We are reminded that when we care for the hungry, thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, the imprisoned, we are actually taking care of Jesus who lives behind the faces of these people. We will be judged based on our behavior to other people in our ordinary, everyday, human affairs with them in the world. God is there in the people whom we serve. People provide soup kitchens for the starving, clothe the naked on the streets, rehabilitate those addicted to drug and alcohol, pack a food basket for the hungry, etc. Our parishioners also do the same. Saint Vincent De Paul Society, neighbors helping neighbors, AA groups, soup kitchen, etc. are a few outreach ministries our parishioners are actively involved. Let the kingship of Jesus who stood with the disadvantaged help us to establish his kingdom in our neighbor- hood by living the Christian values though our words and deeds, love and service. Let Jesus be our King now and forever! Fr.
