Previous meetings • Morten Rasmussen scored the only goal as Midtjylland beat Legia on matchday one. It was the sides' first meeting and Midtjylland's first encounter with Polish opponents. • Legia's five games against Danish teams have ended W1 D2 L2 (W1 L1 in Poland). Form guide • Legia picked up their only Group D point to date at home to Club Brugge on matchday three. • Midtjylland won their first two Group D contests, but then lost 4-1 at home and 5-0 away to Napoli – the latter result the heaviest away defeat in their European history. • Legia have made it to the round of 32 in two of their three UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns. • This is Midtjylland's first UEFA group stage campaign. Trivia and links • The journey from Herning to Warsaw is just under 900km. • Midtjylland are one of ten sides in the group stage who qualified for Europe this season as domestic champions, along with KF Skenderbëu (Albania), Qarabağ FK (Albania), APOEL FC (Cyprus), FC Viktoria Plzeň (Czech Republic), KKS Lech Poznań (Poland), FK Partizan (Serbia), Celtic FC (Scotland), Molde FK (Norway) and FC Basel 1893 (Switzerland). • Midtjylland (literally: central Jutland) were formed in 1999 with the merger of Ikast fS and Herning Fremad BK. • Midtjylland boast Polish talent in the form of goalkeeper Patryk Wolański, formerly on the books at RTS Widzew Łódź – where his team-mates included Legia defender Łukasz Broź. • Legia striker Marek Saganowski has some experience of Danish football, having spent the first half of the 2008/09 season on loan at Aalborg BK. The 37-year-old can make his 50th UEFA club competition appearance in this game. The coaches • Stanislav Cherchesov replaced Henning Berg as Legia coach on 6 October. The former FC Spartak Moskva and Russia goalkeeper led Spartak through the 2007/08 UEFA Cup group stage and repeated the feat with FC Dinamo Moskva last season, his side winning all six games. • Midtjylland boss Jess Thorup played in Germany and Austria as a forward. He made his name as a coach at Esbjerg fB, where he won a Danish Cup before taking Denmark to the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championships. Midtjylland hired him this summer. 3 Legia Warszawa - FC Midtjylland Thursday 26 November 2015 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Stadion Wojska Polskiego, Warsaw Team facts Legia Warszawa Formed: 1916 Nickname: Wojskowi (Army Men), Legionisci (Legionnaires) UEFA club competition honours • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) • League title: 10 (2014) • Polish Cup: 17 (2015) Ten-year record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2014/15: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2013/14: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2012/13: play-offs 2011/12: round of 32 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2009/10: third qualifying round 2008/09: second qualifying round 2007/08: UEFA Intertoto Cup second round 2006/07: first round (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2005/06: second qualifying round Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 9-0: Legia v Víkingur Reykjavík 27/09/72, European Cup Winners' Cup first round second leg • Biggest away win 1-6: IF Elfsborg v Legia 27/09/01, UEFA Cup first round second leg 0-5: Saint Patrick's Athletic FC v Legia 23/07/14, UEFA Champions League second qualifying round second leg 0-5: FK Vardar v Legia 12/08/99, UEFA Cup qualifying round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 3-7: Legia v FC Bayern München 05/10/88, UEFA Cup first round second leg 0-4: Legia v TSV 1860 München 03/03/65, European Cup Winners' Cup quarter-final first leg • Heaviest away defeat 6-1: Valencia CF v Legia 01/11/01, UEFA Cup second round second leg UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 6-0: Legia v FC Tbilisi 26/08/04, second qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win 1-6: IF Elfsborg v Legia (see above) 0-5: FK Vardar v Legia (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 3-7: Legia v FC Bayern München (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 6-1: Valencia CF v Legia (see above) FC Midtjylland Formed: 1999 4 Legia Warszawa - FC Midtjylland Thursday 26 November 2015 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Stadion Wojska Polskiego, Warsaw Nickname: Ulvene (The Wolves) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 1 (2015) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2014/15: play-offs 2013/14: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2012/13: play-offs 2011/12: third qualifying round 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2009/10: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2008/09: second qualifying round 2007/08: first round 2006/07: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2005/06: first round Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 4-0: Midtjylland v Bangor City FC 31/07/08, UEFA Cup first qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win 1-6: Bangor City FC v Midtjylland 17/07/08, UEFA Cup first qualifying round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-4: Midtjylland v SSC Napoli 22/10/15, UEFA Europa League group stage 0-3 on three occasions, most recently v BSC Young Boys 23/08/12, UEFA Europa League play-off first leg • Heaviest away defeat 5-0: SSC Napoli v Midtjylland 05/11/15, UEFA Europa League group stage UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 4-0: Midtjylland v Bangor City FC (see above) • Biggest away win 1-6: Bangor City FC v Midtjylland (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 1-4: Midtjylland v SSC Napoli 0-3 on three occasions, most recently v BSC Young Boys (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 5-0: SSC Napoli v Midtjylland (see above) 5 Legia Warszawa - FC Midtjylland Thursday 26 November 2015 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Stadion Wojska Polskiego, Warsaw Squad list Legia Warszawa Current season All-time QUAL UEL League UEL UEFA No. Player Nat.
