He is a current member of the Washington Forest Practices Board, an executive editor of The Journal of Environmental Education, and editor of Adventure Education. An avid outdoorsman, Miles has traveled the North Cascades for nearly thirty years, climbing to many summits, serving for a decade in mountain rescue, and chairing the board of the North Cascades Institute. He is the author of Komo Kulshan: The Story of Baker and Guardian of the Parks: The History of the National Parks and Conservation Association. He lives in Bellingham, Washington. Dale Hamilton has carried his sketchbook into the mountains for over twenty years, recording his impressions of the landscape he has come to know intimately. He has worked for the U.S. Forest Service and for Western Washington University, and has shown his work in various galleries over the years. He lives with his wife, Sheena, in White Rock, B.C.
