Holland, Belgium & Van Eyck Amsterdam to Bruges Aboard Magnifique IV May 12 – 20, 2021 Dear Travelers and Friends, In May 2021, join me for a week-long voyage on the new boutique riverboat Magnifique IV, meandering the rivers and canals from Amsterdam to Bruges. I’ve explored many Dutch and Flemish masterworks in classes that I teach at Columbia University. I am excited to share the experience of seeing these extraordinary paintings, sculptures, and altarpieces in churches and museums throughout Holland and Belgium, encountering timeless classics on their native soil. This trip offers us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: We will be among the first to behold Jan van Eyck’s partially restored Ghent Altarpiece (The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb) in its original home, Saint Bavo’s Cathedral. I look forward to this opportunity to share my insights on this paragon of the Early Northern Renaissance, along with works by Rembrandt, Rubens, and other Old Masters of the Baroque era. I hope you’ll join me on this memorable tour.
