Prince Albert II of Monaco, Patron of Peace and Sport I have the great pleasure of welcoming you to Monaco for the 12th edition of the Peace and Sport International Forum. The Forum represents an invaluable platform for the promotion and the development of tangible peace-through-sport initiatives. Sport is a major driving force which acts to empower women and young people as well as being catalyst to achieve further objectives regarding health, education, dialogue, social inclusion and environmental protection. The Principality of Monaco is thrilled to host such a prestigious gathering of stakeholders worldwide. I wish all the delegates many fruitful exchanges and an enjoyable time in Monaco. Joël Bouzou, President and Founder, Peace and Sport The 12th Peace and Sport International Forum will gather key decision- makers including Heads of State, strategical leaders from business and the sports world, Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, representatives from civil society, international organizations and young leaders around the theme “Investing in Peace, Acting through Sport”. The discussions will help to pinpoint and share solutions to scale-up investment in longer-term efforts to transform societies and leave a sustainable legacy for generations to come. In order to showcase best practices and pragmatic solutions, the Peace and Sport Awards will reward organizations and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to peace, dialogue and social change in the world through sport. From local field programs to global initiatives, the winners have one thing in common: they lead projects which are representative of sport’s capacity to reconcile divided or opposed communities. Additionally, this edition will mark the 10th anniversary of the Champions for Peace club, paying tribute to 10 years of commitment of more than 100 high-level athletes. Didier Drogba, Vice- President, Peace and Sport As Vice-President and Champion for Peace, it is a great pleasure to welcome all delegates to the 12th Peace and Sport International Forum. This year, the Champions for Peace club will celebrate its 10th anniversary during the Forum, making this a unique and memorable edition. In 2009, it started with a handful of athletes. The club now has more than a hundred members and it is constantly growing. Over the last 10 years, the Champions for Peace have dedicated their time, their fame, and their athletic experience to serve projects which use sport to tackle social issues. Together, we will draw on our collective experience and use it to look ahead to the coming years.
