Nintendo Has Done it Once Again By: Courtney Hauser Originally launched in 1889, Nintendo has been around for quite some time. Almost one hundred years after it’s launch, however, a sudden surge of interest in their products launched them into popularity. Since then, Nintendo has been producing both gaming consoles and games. It’s most recent launch: the Nintendo Switch. Although the Nintendo Switch came out three years ago, the lite version just came out in September of 2019, and has recently become one of the hottest gaming consoles in the business. Due to the current global pandemic, it’s easy to see why gaming consoles would be popular right now. After Nintendo released the Switch, they were quick to release hundreds of games. Some of the most successful have been Animal Crossing: New Horizon released in late ​ ​ March of this year and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe released in April of 2017. Marah Hauser recently ​ ​ bought a Nintendo Switch Lite and the game Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and she claims ​ ​ it’s one of the best purchases she’s ever made. “It’s so much more convenient playing games on my switch. It gives you the option to play wherever you want, and the battery lasts quite some time. I could sit here and play Animal Crossing all day” said Marah Hauser. ​ ​ The Nintendo Switch ended up being a saving grace for the company. Nintendo’s net worth was on a steady decline until 2017, getting as low as $4.3 billion due to the failure of the Wii U gaming system. Now, however, the company is estimated to be worth about $55.06 billion. After such a long time in the business, Nintendo knows its way around the market, and it’s safe to assume we’ll be seeing more Nintendo products coming out in the near future. .
