Set in Georgia in 1913, the story reveals the dark realities of a time where prejudice, discrimination, and class separation were common practice in the community. Leo’s story is just one moment in history that has repeated itself over and over because of a community’s intolerance. As a result, unfortunate circumstances, tragic events and a questionable judicial system continue to plague generations to follow. For me, it was important for our production of Parade to serve as a powerful reminder of our responsibility today to help our communities demonstrate love, tolerance, acceptance, and honor. Let us look to Leo and Lucille’s discovery of “All the Wasted Time” and take the time today to make a difference in our lives and for those who learn from us. - Kari Hayter SPECIAL THANKS Cast, Crew and Creative Team, CSUN Theatre Department Faculty and Staff, Ah-Jeong Kim, Garry Lennon, Go Button Productions, CSUN Arts Council, Alan Friedenthal, Dean of the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication, CSUN Instructionally Related Activities Board, whose co-funding make these productions possible.
