Coastal north from Shellharbour. Blue Mountains. Also elsewhere. Occurs naturally on the edge of rainforest on the North Coast of NSW and north from there. Notes Introduced (to SE NSW) tree to 40 m tall. Bark rough and brown on the lower trunk, smooth and brownish on the upper trunk and branches. Stems hairy, becoming hairless, with leaf scars. Leaves aromatic when rubbed, appearing whorled at the ends of the branchlets, alternating up the stems lower down, 7-18 cm long, 25-45 mm wide, leathery, glossy green, hairless, tips pointed. Flowers with 5 white petals each 6-9 mm long, in 3-7 flowered clusters. Stamens white and feathery, 10-20 mm long. Flowers Spring to Summer.
