That season was the 1978-79 most successful as we finished league runners-up, reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where we lost to Blackburn 1965-66, 1967-68, Rovers (0-7). When the Alliance merged with the Football 1973-74 League in 1892, Bootle became founder members of the new Liverpool County Second Division. The club Cup Runners-up spent most of their time in the First Division until 2000 when we unfortunately dropped into the Second Division. However, 2007-08 despite finishing 6th in 2002, the club Vodkat League dropped into the Liverpool County Reserve Division Winners Combination. In 2006 the club, with a new 2007-08, 2009-10 ground, were elected back into Division 2 Runners-up of the North West Counties League. In 2009 2008-09 Bootle won promotion to the NWCL Premier *Liverpool Senior Cup Division and also won the Championship. In 2009/10, our first Winners season back in the NWCFL Premier Division Bootle finished a 1883, 1888, 1889 NWCFL highest placing of 3rd. In 2010/11 finished 6th place. *Football Alliance They equalled the 3rd place again in 2012. Along the way, the team overcame Finn Harps, Mr Ben Roberts Breeze, Dunlops and a resilient Churchtown side to reach the final, which will Mr Frank Doran Snr be played on Thursday 2nd May at LCFA. Mr Joe Benton MP In addition to reaching the County Cup Final the team are in the Semi- Final of Mr Bobby Capstick, Mr the West Cheshire Youth Plate and will face Vauxhall Motors at Riveacre Road Dave Ruth, Mr Geoff Frasier, Mr Tommy McKay, Mr Tony th on Sat 20 April. Indeed, the team is still competing for honours on four fronts, McKay as last weeks 2-0 victory over South Liverpool secured their place in the Quarter Final of the Halton and West Cheshire Cup and Bootle still have a possibility of winning the West Cheshire Youth League! He is Mr James Olsen delighted at how the players have responded to Coaching this year with the emphasis on a high tempo pressing game, that limits opponents possession of Mr Liam Blakeman the ball, and that their performances have shown their growing maturity and Mr Paul McCowen ability to take a more tactical approach to games.
