Enjoy a complimentary Afternoon Tea on arrival. Day 2: Lulworth Range Walks Option 1 - Coombe Keynes & Belhuish Distance: 6½ miles (10½km) Ascent: 900 feet (260m) In Summary: A delightful linear walk that starts in the small hamlet of Coombe Keynes. This walk delivers glimpses of Lulworth Castle and an impressive bird's eye view of Lulworth Cove as we make our way back along the farm tracks and foot paths towards West Lulworth House. Highlight: Stunning vistas east to Worbarrow Tout and west to Isle of Portland. Option 2 - Above Kimmeridge To Lulworth Distance: 8 miles (13km) Ascent: 1,300 feet (400m) In Summary: Descend from the chalk downs to the remains of the village of Tyneham. Our walk to Lulworth Cove has two steep ascents as we cross the high cliffs of the military ranges. Highlight: The atmospheric, deserted village of Tyneham, requisitioned in 1943 to make way for the military training range. Option 3 - To Lulworth Overt The Ranges Distance: 8½ miles (14km) Ascent: 1,700 feet (520m) In Summary: Follow the coastal path from Kimmeridge to Tyneham, then on over the dramatic cliffs of the military ranges back to Lulworth Cove. www.hfholidays.co.uk PAGE 2 [email protected] Tel: +44(0) 20 3974 8865 Highlight: The coastline to the east of Lulworth Cove is particularly impressive. Expect some steep ascents and descents as you follow the undulating coastal path over the chalk cliffs. Day 3: Lulworth Hinterland Option 1 - Daggers Gate & The Top Of Lulworth Cove Distance: 5.25 miles (8.5km) Ascent: 850 feet (260m) In Summary: A circular walk that leads us past Daggers Gate, with its legendary tale. From here we head East along an inland ridge and hopefully are gifted with expansive views. We then ascend Bindon Hill for a Bird’s Eye View of Lulworth Cove, then back into West Lulworth. Highlight: We hope to have stunning views above Lulworth. To the west the Isle of Portland and east to Worbarrow Tout and St Aldhelm’s Head. Option 2 - Winfrith And Chaldon Herring Distance: 9miles (15km) Ascent: 1100ft (330m) In Summary: Walking from the house we walk to Daggers Gate and continue North West across peaceful countryside to the quiet village of East Chaldon (sometimes called Chaldon Herring) then to the hamlet of West Chaldon. From there we turn South ascending steadily to the inland track that runs parallel to the coast but offers superb views out to sea. Highlight: Stunning views from Portland to St Aldhelms Head. Option 3 - Winfrith, East And West Chaldon Distance: 12 miles (19km) Ascent: 1250ft (380m) In Summary: A extended circular walk that takes in views of the Isle of Portland. As we head inland we are gifted with views ahead of Dorset Heath and the village of Winfrith. We then complete our walk passing by Shell sculptures on our way back into West Lulworth Highlight: If clear enough we could be rewarded with views of St Aldhelm's Head. The most southerly point of the Purbeck peninsula. Day 4: Departure Day Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before making your way home. Day 2: Corfe Castle & Swyre Head Option 1 - Swyre Head Distance: 6.5 miles (10.5km) Ascent: 650ft (200m) In Summary: Walk from Kingston villlage to the viewpoint of Swyre Head. We then head inland through the village of Church Knowle and along the chalk ridge to Corfe Castle. Highlight: Explore the village of Corfe Castle and its iconic ruined 11th Century namesake. Seek out the quaint pubs and sweet shop, or visit the restored railway. Option 2 - Creech Hill To Corfe Castle Distance: 8 miles (13km) Ascent: 750 feet (220m) In Summary: Starting near Steeple we make our way down towards Kimmeridge where this walk heads east for the viewpoint at Swyre Head, the highest point of the Purbeck Hills. We make our way to the village of Kingston and finally walk Northward to enjoy the village of Corfe Castle. Highlight: If we are very lucky we’ll see all the way to Dartmoor from the superb viewpoint at Swyre Head. Option 3 - Coast Path To Kimmeridge Distance: 11 miles (18 km) Ascent: 1,450 feet (440m) In Summary: Admire the views from Swyre Head then descend to the coast and head west towards Kimmeridge. We return to Corfe Castle along the fine chalk ridge that forms the spine of the Purbeck peninsula. Highlight: After a day of fabulous coastal views, enjoy the fine approach along the Ridgeway to Corfe Castle. Day 2: Studland Via Agglestone Rock To Swanage Option 1 - Studland Via Agglestone Rock To Swanage Distance: 6 miles (9½km) Ascent: 580 feet (180m) In Summary: A delightful walk that brings you past Agglestone Rock before dropping into Studland and admiring the coast of Studland Bay. The walk then leaves the beach following the path of Fort Henry at Redend Point where you can read about the role this area played in World War 2 before going back inland and finishing at Swanage where you might have some time to explore the town. Highlight: Enjoy excellent views towards Bournemouth, the Isle of Wight and Old Harry Rock. From here we take the coast path, passing Old Harry Rock which marks the start of the Jurassic Coast, before continuing along the coast to Swanage. Highlight: The impressive Agglestone Rock and marvel at the magnificent chalk stack of Old Harry Rock. Option 3 - Corfe Castle To Swanage Distance: 11½ miles (19km) Ascent: 1,550 feet (480m) In Summary: Enjoy a stunning variety of inland and coastal scenery. Our walk starts in Norden and passes through the village of Corfe Castle to follow the glorious chalk ridge along the spine of the Purbeck Peninsular to Studland. From here we take the coast path passing Old Harry Rock which marks the start of the Jurassic Coast before continuing along the coast to Swanage.
