Three Binder System Reading Sessions (3 Hours): It is important to read the Continuity Binder for its policies and procedures. There is a significant amount of information in this binder. It is helpful to review it often and become familiar with the locations of different policies and procedures for quick reference. The Risk Management Binder outlines procedures for emergency response and contains multiple floor plans that outline the location of different emergency response items in the facility. As the primary responder, it is important to know the Emergency Action Plan as outlined in the Risk Management Binder. The Pass-On Binder is the system in place for communication between full-time administrators and students. Pay attention to the types of issues that come up (incident reports and typed messages). Read all binders for comprehension, take notes when reading, and ask questions on items that you do not understand. On these shifts, trainees are expected to watch and learn from trainers. The trainers on the first 3 shadow shifts should cover start-of-shift and end-of- shift procedures and complete as much of the Training Checklist as possible. On the 4th shadow shift, the trainer should first cover any outstanding items from the Training Checklist. After the Training Checklist has been completed, the trainee should attempt to complete all shift procedures on his/her own. The trainer should remain on shift to supervise the trainee and answer any questions that arise. Trainees may take notes and should ask questions.
