Named in 1979 Gunars Abele to recognize his efforts during the 1973-74 USARP-CRREL after CRREL research civil engineer Austin Kovacs, leader of the 1973-74 survey in this area. Named for CRREL geologist, Chester parts of the Southern Ocean for more than 25 years, dating from the 1976-77 C. Named for CRREL research mechanical Patrick Point, in the Prince Charles Mountains. Named for English-born engineer Mary R. Albert, Ph.D., who conducted field and laboratory research glaciologist and CRREL engineer Malcolm Mellor, Ph.D., for his work at to characterize ice core, firn, and snow properties from Siple Dome, from the Mawson Station, 1957.
