During the ceremony he was presented with an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree. The collection includes his honorary degree and award citation. Also included is Bob Hope’s personalized copy of the 1975 War Whoop (Norwich University yearbook), presented to him on the occasion of his visit to campus. About Bob Hope Bob Hope was born Leslie Townes Hope in London, England, in 1903. He emigrated with his parents and brothers to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1907 or 1908. He began his entertainment career as a comedian and dancer. His movie career began in 1938 and lasted into the 1970s. He selflessly devoted much of his time during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War to entertaining troops in the field. Bob Hope received five honorary Academy Awards along with a long list of other honorariums including a British knighthood in 1998. He and his wife Dolores had four children.
