Coach Mark Crittenden has used a more conservative game plan this season to help cover the exodus of attacking stars from last season’s team and it appeared to stifle their attack all together in the first half of the campaign. However, Blacktown has found their groove and the goals are now flowing freely with Gibbs closing in on top form. APIA on the other are in near finals form and three straight wins is proof of that. A big part of that form is 36-year-old veteran playmaker Franco Parisi who has played the house down in all three matches including a return of three goals and three assists. 1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Wollongong Wolves FC 17 12 3 2 44 14 30 39 2 APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 17 10 4 3 34 22 12 34 3 Blacktown City FC 17 9 3 5 23 18 5 30 4 Sydney United 58 FC 17 7 5 5 24 27 -3 26 5 Sydney Olympic FC 17 6 5 6 27 26 1 23 6 Manly United FC 17 6 5 6 21 25 -4 23 7 Rockdale City Suns FC 17 7 2 8 20 30 -10 23 8 Sutherland Sharks FC 17 5 7 5 25 20 5 22 9 Marconi Stallions FC 17 6 2 9 32 27 5 20 10 Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC 17 5 5 7 31 39 -8 20 11 Sydney FC 17 4 2 11 25 42 -17 14 12 Hakoah Sydney City East FC 17 3 1 13 10 26 -16 10 NPLNSW.COM.AU 5 1ST GRADE REVIEWS Blacktown 3 – Sydney FC 1 at Lily Homes Stadium A spectacular Joey Gibbs bicycle kick has helped Blacktown City claim a dominant 3-1 win against Sydney FC at Lily Homes Stadium on Sunday. The highlight reel moment from the veteran striker wrapped up the win for Blacktown with a little more than ten minutes left on the clock in a match where they always held the upper hand. Dakota Askew opened the scoring for Blacktown after only twenty minutes but the visiting Young Sky Blues evened the ledger from the penalty not long before the interval. However, it was always going to be Blacktown’s day with Askew, and then Gibb’s incredible overhead finish wrapping up a clinical win for the Mark Crittenden coached side. The result means City clings onto third spot on the ladder while Sydney FC are left languishing only one spot above the bottom in eleventh. APIA Leichhardt Tigers 3 – Hakoah Sydney City East 0 at Lambert Park A Franco Parisi master class has helped APIA Leichhardt Tigers to a dominant 3-0 win against competition strugglers Hakoah Sydney City East at Lambert Park on Sunday The veteran midfield maestro scored and set up another as second placed APIA cut the gap between them and league leaders Wollongong Wolves to five points. Parisi gave the home side the perfect start when he headed home only three mintues in and then showed plenty of finesse with a deft through ball which helped Dom Nasrabadi double the Tigers lead in the 28th minute. Chris Payne wrapped up the win for the John Calleja coached side late in the contest when he found the bottom corner of the net. 6 #NPLNSW TEAM OF THE WEEK 01: LARGE USE: OVER 150MM WIDE This logo has a smaller ‘®’ symbol FOOTBALL NSW WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR SPONSORS FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT 02: SMALL USE: 55MM - 150MM WIDE This logo has a larger ‘®’ symbol NPLNSW.COM.AU 7 SILVER SPONSORS SILVER SPONSORS SILVER SPONSORS NPLNSW.COM.AU 9 U20’S TEAM LISTS 26 Alen Aganovic 30 Michael Van Walsum (GK) 27 Alec Purves 31 Cameron Ward 29 Daniel Colosimo 32 Nick Azzone 31 Stuart Gosling 33 Peter Nichols 32 Carlos De Olivera 34 Zander Regan 33 Anthony Gallo 35 Oscar Bernauer 34 Suley Bangura 36 Nathan Mellino 35 Rhett Desilva 37 Alex Graorovski 38 Bradley Dollins 39 Anthony Sparacino 40 Zeke Prisuda 41 Jacob Ritchie 42 Camil Abouchaaya Coach: Andy Montgomery 43 Gian Fiorese Assistant Coach: Daniel Lownds 44 Joseph Lameri Manager: Dean Montgomery 45 Kashmir Stelio-Prasad 50 Harris Fotopoulos (GK) Coaches: Gerard Peacock Manager: Joe Garufi U20’S - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Blacktown City FC 17 11 4 2 37 14 23 37 2 Sydney FC 17 8 6 3 29 17 12 30 3 Rockdale City Suns FC 17 8 4 5 36 28 8 28 4 Sutherland Sharks FC 17 8 4 5 26 21 5 28 5 APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 16 7 4 5 21 14 7 25 6 Sydney Olympic FC 17 7 4 6 21 23 -2 25 7 Marconi Stallions FC 17 6 5 6 23 28 -5 23 8 Manly United FC 17 6 3 8 27 31 -4 21 9 Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC 17 5 4 8 30 36 -6 19 10 Wollongong Wolves FC 17 6 1 10 19 29 -10 19 11 Hakoah Sydney City East FC 17 4 4 9 25 37 -12 16 12 Sydney United 58 FC 16 2 3 11 18 34 -16 9 10 #NPLNSW U20’S MATCH PREVIEW Blacktown City will look to reassert themselves at the team that should provide as good a challenge as any. top of the table when they welcome APIA Leichhardt to Lily Homes Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
