La sua morte è stata confermata dai membri del gruppo Bodom After Midnight , che Laiho aveva formato a mrzo 2020, dopo lo scioglimento dei Children of Bodom. Laiho iniziò a suonare il violino a sette anni e la chitarra a undici. Nel 1993, a quattordici anni, fondò i Children of Bodom, che inizialmente si chiamavano IneartheD.
