The speaker recognized Representative Paddie who introduced Ray Wilson, pastor, Light of the World Christian Church, Marshall, who offered the invocation as follows: Lord, you were in the Tabernacle of Moses. You were in the Temple of Solomon. And you are in this Capitol, in this house today, and in our lives as believers. We welcome and acknowledge your presence. We thank you for Speaker Straus, his wife, and his family. We thank you for his leadership. We are grateful for every member of this house, their families, and every member of each staff. Our prayer today is that each would continue to receive your guidance, your wisdom, and your help for the challenging decisions of this session. We pray, Lord, that there would be a coming together regardless of party, regardless of ideology, and that the members of this house would find common ground and have unity for the betterment and future of this great state. For where 552 84th LEGISLATURE Ð REGULAR SESSION there is unity, there you command the blessing. Today, Lord, give them strength and refreshing and renewal that will carry them in the weeks and months to come. Give all of us today revelation of your love, your grace, your forgiveness, and we invite you to draw us to your goodness. Again, we acknowledge your presence in this place, in our lives, and in our day. We enter this day with thanksgiving in our hearts for all you have done and will do for us and this great state. We thank you for Texas. We bless you. We love you because you first loved us. In your name, we pray. Amen. The speaker recognized Representative Keough who led the house in the pledges of allegiance to the United States and Texas flags. The following member was granted leave of absence for today because of illness: Dukes on motion of Howard. RULES SUSPENDED Representative Geren moved to suspend all necessary rules to allow the Honorable Charles E. "Chuck" Kleckley, speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives, and his wife, Laurie, admittance to the floor of the house of representatives inside the rail. The motion prevailed. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS The speaker recognized Representative Ashby who introduced the Honorable Charles E. "Chuck" Kleckley, speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives, and his wife, Laurie. (VanDeaver in the chair) MESSAGE FROM THE SENATE A message from the senate was received at this time (see the addendum to the daily journal, Messages from the Senate, Message No. 1). COMMITTEES GRANTED PERMISSION TO MEET Pursuant to Rule 4, Section 9 of the House Rules, Representative Otto requested permission for all committees and subcommittees to meet while the house is in session, during bill referral today, pursuant to their committee Thursday, March 5, 2015 HOUSE JOURNAL Ð 27th Day 553 postings. For purposes of this motion, those committees and subcommittees that are scheduled to meet upon adjournment or final recess today shall be considered to be scheduled to meet during bill referral today. Permission to meet was granted. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SUSPENDED On motion of Representative Raney and by unanimous consent, the reading and referral of bills was postponed until just prior to adjournment. LEAVE OF ABSENCE GRANTED The following member was granted leave of absence for the remainder of today because of important business: Farrar on motion of Allen. BILLS AND RESOLUTIONS SIGNED BY THE SPEAKER Notice was given at this time that the speaker had signed bills and resolutions in the presence of the house (see the addendum to the daily journal, Signed by the Speaker, Senate List No. 5). CAPITOL PHYSICIAN The chair recognized Representative Paddie who presented Dr.iKeith Miller of Center as the "Doctor for the Day." The house welcomed Dr. Miller and thanked him for his participation in the Physician of the Day Program sponsored by the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. HR 748 - ADOPTED (by Dale) Representative Dale moved to suspend all necessary rules to take up and consider at this time HRi748. The motion prevailed. The following resolution was laid before the house: HR 748, Congratulating the Texas Joint Crime Information Center, Emily Robertson, and David Jackson for receiving awards from the National Fusion Center Association. HR 748 was adopted. On motion of Representatives Villalba and Goldman, the names of all the members of the house were added to HRi748 as signers thereof. HR 763 - ADOPTED (by MunÄoz) Representative MunÄoz moved to suspend all necessary rules to take up and consider at this time HRi763. The motion prevailed. 554 84th LEGISLATURE Ð REGULAR SESSION The following resolution was laid before the house: HR 763, Recognizing March 5, 2015, as Mission Day at the State Capitol. HR 763 was adopted. On motion of Representatives Guerra, Martinez, Guillen, Lucio, and Longoria, the names of all the members of the house were added to HRi763 as signers thereof.
