Day One of a new season... Heaven! Today we welcome Upper Hutt City to the hallowed turf of Hutt Park. It’s been a tremendously busy off season for the club and we are very excited about the positive progress we have made since the end of the 2010 sea- son. The club has already run a series of pre-season social league friendlies. The club has successfully run the 3rd Annual Women’s pre-season competition Stop Out has appointed Scott Easthope in the new role of Junior Coaching Director as we continue to improve on our “Capital Football 2010 Junior Club of the Year” award. Scott has already added some positive impact and professionalism to how our junior club is running! Stop Out is also one of the nine clubs within the Capital Football region to be selected as a pilot club to trial New Zealand Football’s new “Whole of Football” initiative. And Bess is back as Director of Football as we continue to strive for succeed at Senior level. Captain Steve Gulley leads the core of last years squad with some exciting additions to the team. With a solid pre-season behind us our senior sides are well prepared for 2011. Peter Maurer’s 3rd team and the Werewolves have aspi- rations for promotion and Women’s Director of Football Brendan Marsh and his charges aim to emulate last years extraordinary success. The 1st team will play in Capital Premier for the first time in the clubs history and with 3 senior teams wearing Red and Gold in 2011 it will be another great year for the Women at Stop Out. This Sun- day sees the season kick off for all Women’s leagues. So for all players and specta- tors enjoy the football. Good luck to both sides and please enjoy our Stop Out hospitality. 3 Chris Canton, President Welcome from Besim... Amazingly the 2011 Football Season has arrived. It certainly has crept up on us all with all the Football we are able to watch both in our own NZFC, A-League and the massive amounts we all get on TV. Pre-season has come and gone and this Wilson Luke year has been one of excitement having entered two teams in the Hilton Petone Cup. These matches have been invaluable for our teams. The Capital 2 team has been able to blood some fantastic young tal- ent with a handful of youth players mak- ing the step up to Senior Football. Our Capital Premier team was able to use the full squad in all matches and Steve Gulley give game time to our new recruits and build combinations in playing the “Stop Out way”. The team had a very good tournament going through unbeaten only to be elim- inated on penalties at the Quarter Finals stage. As with every season players come and go in the off season. I want to introduce some of the new faces in our squad. Aleem Sheik Blair Easthope (Scottys older brother), Wellington based Aleem Sheik and Vathana Young have joined us this year and will be superb additions to an al- ready talented squad. Welcome to Stop Out guys. CASE Services Community & Supported Employment Services 4 Supporting People with Disabilities 6 Whakatiki Street, Upper Hutt. 0800 022 457 I mentioned the A-League earlier and this season I was engrossed in it. The amount of free flowing Football was a breath of fresh air and the Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners have to be Vinny Godwin Vinny commended for sticking to their footballing styles and philosophies. It was no surprise that these teams made and played out a wonderful Grand Final. Maybe one day the Phoenix can change their Vathana Young Vathana footballing philosophy and I’m sure success will come to them. Hopefully this season we too can bring you the fans and club members more free flowing football. We certainly won’t move away from our philosophy. Today our season begins with a real test against defending champions Upper Hutt City. Jamie Mason Jamie I welcome Pedro Garcias and his team to Hutt Park and hope that everybody enjoys a fantastic match. See you at the after match. Chris and Brendan are rapt to have Russell back on board as squad manager and welcome Dean Bowden & Jenny Hibbert, who are stepping into roles with the second and third teams. Our first team will play Premier League football and are raring to go after a bright showing at the recent Yellow Fe- ver Stop Out Tournament. There team tackled Central League opposition & never looked out of place as our players lifted their game to ever higher levels. The second team tackle Division 2 and the third team start in Division 4. For both of these teams the challenge is take advantage of the league system and make a push for promotion by mid season. We continue to run one en- larged squad, trusting our methods and training systems to improve the standards of all our players and with the competition evident for team spots at the moment we see no need to change. The squad has grown to over 40 players, with a mix of young and not quite so young faces joining us this season to complement the women returning from last year when three promotions, two league titles and a division cup were won.
