This means: · Access to high quality childcare for primary school children and a safe place to be for older children. · A varied menu of activities and study support to enhance achievement and broaden interests. · Access to parenting support and advice, including information sessions for parents and carers of pupils starting school or on transfer to secondary school, curriculum evenings and also parenting programmes and family learning where consultation has shown there is a demand. · Swift and easy access to other services to ensure children with additional needs are well supported through integrated working with other organisations in the statutory, voluntary and community sector. · Community access to appropriate facilities in schools such as ICT suites, sports and arts facilities and access for adult learning where consultation has shown there is a community need. Schools will provide these services where appropriate or alternatively provide signposts to other partners and services available elsewhere. Our Extended Schools Coordinator has been working with our family of schools to help us develop and deliver these services. All of the schools now offer a variety of activities for pupils, before or after school and at lunchtimes, which are well attended. Many of you have attended sessions for parents and carers that have been offered this year such as our curriculum evenings and open days. We are keen to offer more and would welcome any suggestions about information and advice you would like to receive. Schools receive a small amount of government funding for developing extended services but our Coordinator has been able to access additional funds on our behalf from a number of sources to help us. For example, funding from Sport Unlimited to deliver free sport sessions in some of the schools and from the Food Standards Agency, which supported the What’s Cooking Club at the high school last summer and funding to support Summer Holiday Playschemes. This is the second edition of our booklet as part of our extended services to offer you a one-stop directory of information about our schools, community organisations, local and national services. This year we have also included details of activities and clubs available Introduction Introduction in the area. Other sources of information will also be available but we hope that this will be a helpful guide for you and your family throughout your child’s time in our schools and beyond. 04 Extend Booklet 2009 To advertise call 0116 2403651 or 07530 151074 4 Visit the magazine online at www.ctfleckney.co.uk Foreword from Headteachers Introduction Headteachers of Billesdon Parochial Primary School Church Langton Church of England Primary School Fleckney Church of England Primary School Foxton Primary School Great Glen St Cuthbert’s Church of England Primary School Kibworth Church of England Primary School Mowsley St Nicholas Church of England School and Kibworth High School, A Community Technology College.
