Shri Manmohan Kalia : Will the Chief Minister be pleased to state— (a) whether any Ex-servicemen have been employed by the State > Government Tor the protection of Banks under the Punjab Police Act ; 7 (b) if the reply to part (a) above be in affirmative then what is their number and the salary being paid to them ? Sardar Surjit Singh Barnala : (a) The banks in the Cooperative Sector have employed Ex-servicemen as Chowkidars/Gunmen and Peon-cum- Chowkidars. These appointments have not been made by the State Govern­ ment under the Police Act of 1861. (b) According to the information available, the number of such emp­ loyees and their pay scales are as under :— Name of the Bank > Number Pay Scale of emp loyees (i) Punjab State Cooperative Land 8 Rs. 400—660. Total salary at Mortgage Bank Ltd., and the initial stage= Rs. 940 per month. Primary Cooperative Land Mort­ gage Banks $ (ii) Punjab State Cooperative Bank 38 Rs. 350—730-f-Rs. 20 as special pay Ltd. to those provided with Gun. Total starting salary Rs. 880 per month.
