Part 6 Education and Training Introduction The Education and Training portfolio delivers and regulates education for Western Australian students. This includes the early childhood education and care sector, primary and secondary schools in the government and non-government school sectors, and the TAFE sector. The portfolio ensures that all students across Western Australia have access to a quality education for a bright future, developing a skilled workforce that meets the State’s economic and community needs. The portfolio is contributing to the achievement of the following Our Priorities and associated targets: • A Strong Economy − creating jobs; • A Bright Future − increasing student reading and numeracy; − increasing participation in STEM; • Aboriginal Wellbeing − reducing the over-representation of Aboriginal people in custody; and • Regional prosperity − delivering strong regional economies.
