*Eero Saarinen 1910-1961 By Nelli Larjava Biography Eero Saarinen was from Finland, but he moved to America when he was 13. His father, Eliel Saarinen, was an architect too, but his designs much more boring and much less original . Eero Saarinen was not only an architect he was also a designer. He designed chairs, tables and interior designs for buildings. His most famous design was the Tulip Chair. The Arch cost 13 million dollars at the time, which is cheap for a monument that is 192 meters tall. Washington Dulles International Airport The Dulles Airport was designed in 1958. It is one of the most busiest airports with over 23 million passengers a year. North Christian Church The North Christian Church was built in 1964. His father, Eliel Saarinen designed the First Christian Church in Columbus. The North Christian Church is located in Columbus, Indiana. MIT Chapel (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Opened in 1955. It is 19.1 meters high and it has many low arches to support the bricks. Natural Light .
