Introduction For Roland Moyle’s parliamentary career and his other constituency correspondence see A/93/12. These files deal with his part in campaigns against proposed motorways. The Dover Radial Route, planned by the London County Council, would have gone through Blackheath. Ringway 1 and Ringway 2 were planned by the Greater London Council in its draft Greater London Development Plan of 1969. Ringway 1 would have gone through Blackheath, Lewisham and New Cross; Ringway 2 through Grove Park, Downham and Beckenham. The Blackheath Motorways Action Group was affiliated to the London Motorways Action Group. In turn, many local residents’ associations and other organisations were affiliated to B-MAG. The Grove Park Motorway Action Group was affiliated to the Homes Before Motorways Action Group (with others along the route of Ringway 2). Revised proposals in 1972 would have moved Ringway 1 from Blackheath to Deptford.
