The 2015-6 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour schedule features five FIVB Grand Slams, three Swatch FIVB Major Series, the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, the Swatch FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals, and nine FIVB Open events. The schedule started in April in China and concludes in November in Qatar. 2015 marks the 29th anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is the first event for 2016 points. · The double-gender $150,000 FIVB Puerto Vallarta Open is the first event on the 2015 portion of the 2016 FIVB Beach Volleyball calendar. The FIVB returns to Mexico for the second-straight year after a seven-year absence. Acapulco hosted the first double-gender events in 1999 along with the double-gender events in 2005 and 2006. Rosarito also hosted a double-gender event in 2000. Puerto Vallarta hosted a double- gender event in 2014. For more information regarding the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, please visit fivb.org. · October 6-11, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Men and Women, $150,000 – Puerto Vallarta is hosting an FIVB World Tour event for the second time. The event will be held at Player Camarones in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. Mexico has hosted ten previous FIVB World Tour events, all double gender tournaments. Host country Mexico won its only FIVB World Tour medal, a bronze, at last season’s Puerto Vallarta Open. · The FIVB Puerto Vallarta Open starts October 6 and concludes October 11. The winning teams in each gender will share the $11,000 first-place prize.
