APE - ANIMAL PROTECTION IN EUROPE - COMENIUS 2010/2012 ITIS PININFARINA - MONCALIERI, TORINO - ITALY SYNOPSIS OF OUR PRODUCTION PRESENTATION OF OUR COUNTRY ITALY, OUR COUNTRY The country is situated at the meeting point of the Eurasian Plate and the African Plate, leading to considerable seismic and volcanic activity. There are 14 volcanoes in Italy, three of which are active: Etna, Stromboli and Vesuvius. Vesuvius is the only active volcano in mainland Europe and is most famous for the destruction of Our country: Pompeii and Herculanum. Inside you can see the reconstructions of various craft workshops, the Pomegranate fountain ("Fontana del Melograno") and the castle of the lord, similar to Fenis castle. The visit to the Stronghold evokes the atmosphere of the age.
