Stay on the A696 until you join the A68 after Otterburn. Shortly after you pass through the border into Scotland at Carter Bar, take the A6088 sign posted to Hawick. Keep on this road for approximately 7 miles, following the road through the tiny village of Chesters (the main road turns sharp left) and continue onward until you see the signs for Newcastleton and Keilder Forest B6357. After 1.5 miles take second turning on the right (this is a concealed entrance so take it steady or you will miss it). Follow this road, passing Causewayfoot Cottage, and then take the next left (signs for Wauchope Cottages), follow the road until you get to the cottages. From the A7 in Hawick at the Morrisons roundabout take 2nd exit Weensland Road (A698) continue about 1 mile, turn right onto A6088 sign posted Bonchester Bridge. Travel about 8 miles to the village with Horse and Hound pub on left. Take the road on the right directly opposite the pub sign posted to Hobkirk.
