This edition includes those graduating in May, August, or December 2012. This Graduate Bulletin, along with previous editions, can be accessed on-line by visiting the VU Electronic Media-Broadcasting website at www.vinu.edu/electronicmedia Our electronic media students have extensive training in audio and video production; sales; and writing for radio, television, web and social networks. Our students receive hands-on training in the studios beginning with their first week of classes as freshmen. 2012 was a great year for the Electronic Media-Broadcasting Department. The WVUB News Department was recognized by the IBA for Best Radio Newscast and Best Breaking News Story. Later in the year, they were also recognized by the Society of Broadcast Journalists for Best Spot News Story for another story in the community. WVUT has added a camera jib and Steadicam to its production facilities, and continues to be active in many local productions utilizing our students as crew members. This year the E-Media department became an Avid Learning Partner. Students graduating this spring were members of the first class to have the opportunity to earn their Avid Media Composer 6 User Certification. Our students can also earn their RAB Radio Marketing Professional Certification. WVUB radio operates with three HD channels and WVUT operates two television channels, one in HD and one in SD, for PBS and local programming. Our graduates have experience working for these stations. VU Electronic Media-Broadcasting students are employed throughout Indiana and in many markets around the country, including the national networks. Some, after working in the industry have returned to education to train future members of the media. I hope you will take a look at this year’s graduates and consider them for employment at your company. Please contact me if you have any questions. I encourage you to visit our website and if you are in the area, please stop by to tour our facilities and meet our dedicated staff and faculty. Sincerely, Jay D.
