The lab portion enables the student to practice all skills, focusing on efficiency of skills and communication skills. Students also learn many new subjects, including soft curl blow outs, pedicuring, color correction, wiggery and pressing and marcelling. Live demonstrations and video presentations are followed by actual or mock practice sessions. Utilize color correction techniques using fillers, toners, tint-back procedures 3. Use the soft curl blow out procedures to relax overly curly hair 4. Properly use pressing combs and ovens to temporarily straighten overly curly hair 5. Properly use marcel irons and ovens to curl previously pressed hair into a style 6. Use hair sculpting techniques in school salon including uniform, increase, solid, graduated and combination forms. 7. Implement wiggery procedures on human hair and synthetic wigs and hairpieces. Proper cleansing and the knowledge of proper styling for human and synthetic wigs. Human=heat. Synthetic=no heat. 8. Create salon layouts and salon handout listing policies and procedures of potential salons. 9. Use proper procedures and techniques in accordance with state laws and rules 10. Prepare cover letter and resume including accomplishments and achievements accrued during time spent at cosmetology school 11. Analyze seasonal color for individuals and find their proper color families. 12. Utilize blow dry/ round brush concepts on clients. Utilize on base positionings for the most volume, half-off base for medium volume, and off base for the least volume. 13. Practice long hair techniques: French twist, coil, fish scale, French braid 14. Practice pedicuring on clients in the school salon, including skin care, nail care and polish techniques.
