Iowa Public Radio and Our Network of 24 Stations Are Getting Pretty Close to Our “Collective” 100Th Birthday

Our Mission: To enhance civic and cultural connections across the state, strengthening Iowa’s communities and reflecting Iowa’s sense of place. MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR Iowa Public Radio and our network of 24 stations are getting pretty close to our “collective” 100th birthday. In order to sustain our statewide news, information and music service, we have had to make some tough choices in how we manage our resources. Support from members and sponsors like you are the reason we are able to absorb the inevitable decline in federal funding and the eventual loss in university funding. We experienced some growth this year but have a long way to go. With your investment, we are committed to expanding the network and increasing our reach into Iowa’s communities. Thank you for being such a vital part of Iowa Public Radio, and for making the work we do every day possible. Art Neu, Chairman (and Proud IPR Member) 3 ENHANCING CONNECTIONS IOWA PUBLIC RADIO NEWS brings Iowans a deeper understanding of the world we live in as well as the people and events that shape our world, our state and our communities. And we showcase Iowa’s vibrant music scene with live performances and insightful interviews with the performers. 4 I’m A MEMBER Because ... In conversations with friends and family, I have the most up-to-date information and usually have an aspect/side of the news they have not heard. I can listen to classical music to reduce the stress of daily living. I love Saturday and Sunday mornings with IPR. I love listening to the BBC News Hour. I gain knowledge of the stock market, how it works and why problems exist for companies around the May 10, 2012 world. Eight Iowa bands competed for a chance to play on the mainstage at the 2012 — Deborah, Dumont 80/35 music festival in Des Moines. I’m a member because I’m a college student. It’s easy to get so focused on the next paper I need to write or the presentation I have this afternoon that I forget to pay attention to what is happening in the rest of the world. Now, when someone asks me, “Have you heard about what’s happening in ____ ?,” I love being able to reply, “Yes, I heard about it this morning on IPR.” NPR is my favorite radio station. That’s why I contribute. — Kelsey, Cedar Falls I’m a member because with just the push of March 7, 2012 two buttons I can bring beautiful music into my Bob Dorr on-air live during the world at any time of the day or bring news and IPR Spring Membership Drive. information about what is happening in the world into my life.
