21.12.2015 PRESS RELEASE CHILD RIGHTS CARAVAN IN SIBIU COUNTY In Sibiu County during the period from 9 November to 11 December 2015, the child rights caravan took place, activity conducted within the project „Sibiu County friendlier to children – local authorities better equipped, more effective interventions”, project financed with the financial support of RO10 – CORAI, program financed by the EEA Grants 2009-2014 and managed by the Romanian Social Development Fund, ID project PEH022. Child rights caravan, themed ” Informed parents for kids happy, in a world in permanent change”, happened by moving a car with sticker in 20 localities in Sibiu County, with a population of Roma in a higher percentage of 10% of the total population. The caravan stopped in cities: Copșa Mică, Dumbrăveni, Miercurea Sibiului and communes Alțîna, Ațel, Bazna, Biertan, Blăjel, Brateiu, Brădeni, Chirpăr, Dârlos, Hoghilag, Iacobeni, Laslea, Merghindeal, Mihăileni, Moșna, Șura Mică, Târnava. The objectives of the caravan were so knowledge of the problems faced by families with children, in particular, the Roma, and the promotion of children's rights among parents. The caravan included activities dedicated to parents and to children. Thus, each of the 20 localities, the caravan has been kept for a period of at least 4 hours, period in which child rights specialists have informed parents, verbal and through promotional materials, with regard to the rights of children and have identified the problems that they face in caring for, raising and educating their own children, trying to provide solutions to resolve them. Children's activities have encompassed the games and contests aimed at dropping knowledge concerning the rights and obligations they have. Within the 20 events were attended by a total of approximately 1000 parents and 2,000 children. The Project „Sibiu County friendlier to children – local authorities better equipped, more effective interventions”, is implemented in the period May 7, 2015-April 30, 2016, by Asociația SOS Satele Copiilor România, NGO with over 20 years experience in Sibiu County, in partnership with Direcția Generală de Asistență Socială și Protecția Copilului Sibiu, the institution responsible for issues of children's rights at the county level.
