Description Snorscomb Mill occupies an enviable position surrounded by open countryside to the south of the popular village of Everdon. Once a medieval village, Snorscomb, meaning a ‘many toothed valley’, is mentioned in the Doomsday book. The land was enclosed by the Knightley family of Fawsley in 1508 and the village reduced to just the mill, a cottage and a farmhouse, which is how it is today. Dating to 1821 but not listed, the mill is a substantial property with accommodation arranged over three floors, built of local ironstone under a slate tiled roof. To the ground floor there is a light and bright double height entrance hall with a spiral staircase that ascends to the first floor guest wing. The entrance hall leads on into an inner hall with a cloakroom and utility room off. The former garaging to the main house is a flexible space that could be converted into an office or playroom. There is a good size dining room with inglenook fireplace fitted with a multi fuel burning stove which leads onto the kitchen/breakfast room. This room incorporates parts of the original mill machinery and looks into the former wheel housing. From the kitchen, there are French doors that open onto the gardens. The main drawing room is located on the first floor of the property and is generous in its proportions. At the far end of the room there are French doors that open onto a balcony which gives fantastic views and access to the gardens to the south and west. This room also has a fireplace which is fitted with a multi fuel burning stove. An open stair case rises to the master bedroom on the second floor. Also on the first floor there is a generous study with built in work stations. The study and adjacent bedroom and shower room could be a self contained suite for a student or au-pair. There are three further bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room and a family bathroom. The master bedroom, located on the second floor of the property, has vaulted ceilings with exposed timbers and also has French doors that open onto the balcony offering views to the south and west. This room also has an en-suite shower room and a dressing room. (This space could also be used as a small study or nursery). The guest wing is accessed via the spiral staircase from the entrance hall. This space comprises a large vaulted sitting room with wood burning stove, a bedroom and shower room. There is also the option to install a kitchenette area at the far end of the room making this space ideal for a live in au-pair or relative. Externally the grounds which surround the property extend to approximately 1.5 acres. A mixture of landscaping, there are formal gardens with terraced seating areas as well as wooded gardens to the south of the plot. In winter the mill race tends to fill with water which flows either down the slipway or through the wheel house.
