the AN IN-HOUSE MAGAZINE OF SHAREKHAN VOL. 6 No.02 PUBLISHED FROM MUMBAI April 2015 SHAREKHAN Dear Sherus, We are back after a short break and have much to share with you as the past few weeks have been eventful. First, Sharekhan turned 15 on February 8 this year and the entire Sharekhan family including the head office, the branches and the business partners celebrated the occasion by cutting cakes, going on picnic, organising parties et al. The annual birthday bash in Mumbai on February 6, featuring engaging performances by Sherus and beautiful Russian dancers among other things, definitely raised the bar for future. Check the photographs on pages 2-3. The Vadodara cluster of branches celebrated the occasion by going on a picnic to Orsang Camp near Chandod on February 7. We share the photographs with you on pages 4-5. Shortly after it was time for the annual branch meet to set the targets for the new fiscal. The backdrop of this all-important event that included an award distribution function was Goa this time. For photographs see pages 6-10 . The Sales function plays an important role in any organisation and Shagi Nair has singlehandedly built the Sales team of our Kolkata branch. Enjoy a heart-to-heart with him on pages 11-12. Our franchisee, Navadurga Share Services Financials, has distinguished itself by winning the Best Operations award three times over the years. On page 13 we turn the spotlight on Pradeep Rao and Girish Revankar, the two men responsible for the achievement . On page 15 we present in a nutshell Sujatha Raman, who dreamt of globetrotting on a bike in childhood and is now responsible for keeping our flag flying in Pune, the seventh most populous city in India. Through workshops and seminars Sharekhan continues to spread the good word about commodities across the country. On page 16 Hardik Shah reports on a recently held seminar to promote commodity trading in Mangalore. After winning the much coveted Zee Business Award in 2014 Sheru Jay Thakkar added another feather to his cap, CNBC Awaaz IPL Muqabla trophy recently. Read about his latest achievement on page 16. On page 17 we pay tribute to our dear colleague Ashish Inamdar, who was snatched away from us much too soon by a sudden illness on March 5, 2015. Before signing off I would like to congratulate the winners of Business Quiz 44: Dipti Padwal (Devi Dayal, Mumbai), Swapnil Mangale (Devi Dayal, Mumbai) and Ankush Shrimal (Business partner, Indore). I would also like to thank all those who helped in the making of the issue. Don't forget to send me your contributions for the future editions at [email protected]. Cheers! All the employees of the branches in the city along with those of the Anand, Vidyanagar, Bharuch and Ankaleshwar branches went on a picnic to Orsang Camp near Chandod in Gujarat on February 7, 2015 to mark the occasion. From the photographs they shared with us afterwards, it was clear that they had a lot of fun. Don’t believe us? Check the photographs below. The journey by bus from the meeting point, ie the Vadodara main branch, to the camp site itself was very exciting with Sherus playing antakshari, chatting and dancing all the way. It set the mood for the rest of the day. Breakfast consisting of tea/coffee, bataka pawwa, south Indian food and fruits was served soon after they reached the campsite situated on the banks of Orsang. This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony with Anahita Vora slicing a delicious-looking chocolate cake into various pieces and getting nostalgic over her memories at Sharekhan. Since the camp site was on the banks of a river it presented opportunities to go trekking, swimming and playing other adventure sports. 4 The SHAREKHAN TIMES April 2015 Strictly for internal circulation BRANCH UPDATE e at pd U So having eaten to their heart’s delight Sherus went trekking and swimming to burn off a few calories and generate appetite for lunch. Lunch was a lavish affair consisting of mouth- watering Punjabi dishes and fruits. Post-lunch activity comprised adventure sports like sky walk, swing bridge, bush tracking, commando net, tyre walk, kayaking and Asia's longest zip-line. All in all, it was a truly memorable occasion. 5 The SHAREKHAN TIMES April 2015 Strictly for internal circulation EVENT UPDATE Business Meet 2015 Sharekhan’s annual branch meet was held at Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa on March 21 this year.
