The municipality of Rania has a population of approximately 200,826 . Rania is famous for the significant and essential role it played during the uprising of 5/3/ 1991 in Kurdistan against the Iraqi regime. people call the city “Uprising Gate”. The city is surrounded by the Kewarash and Hajila mountains. Rania is located in Iraqi Kurdistan 130 km to the northeast of Sulaymaniyah. Brief History In 2010, four new public universities were established in Kurdistan Region: University of Raparin in Rania, University of Halabja, University of Garmian and University of Zakho. Our Mission To train and educate students to become specialists and researchers who will contribute to universal knowledge through the development, implementation and improvement of research and educational activities at a undergraduate level in the social sciences, arts and humanities.
