Baba is known in the West for being the guru of a number of Americans who travelled to India in the 1960s and 1970s, including Ram Dass, the author of Be Here Now; devotional singer Bhagavan Das; Lama Surya Das, the author of "Awakening the Buddha Within;" and the musicians Jai Uttal and Krishna Das.
