We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for entering the Beach to Brother Trail Running Festival 2018, and welcome you back if this is not your first occasion racing with us. We look forward to providing you with a wonderful experience as you run through some of the most beautiful beaches and coastal trails the east coast of Australia has to offer. From the man made coastal pathways through to the rugged untouched coastline, we are sure you will not be disappointed with your experience. Please ensure you take the time to absorb and enjoy the beautiful views along the course, maybe even take your phone along and take the occasional snapshot as you run. And, although this may be one of the most challenging of finish lines you might experience, we are 100% certain you will fully enjoy the spectacular view of the beautiful Camden Haven coastline whilst recovering atop North Brother Mountain in Dooragan National Park. We are very fortunate to be running through many of the locations on the course, especially Sea Acres National Park in Port Macquarie and Dooragan National Park in Laurieton. We would like to take this opportunity to please remind everyone not to litter along this course. We are proud to say this course is pristine, and we would like to keep it this way. If you have any litter from nutrition please utilise the bins provided at the aid stations along the course. Let’s not destroy what we’ve come to enjoy! Thank you The Beach to Brother Team The following event guide provides all of the information you need for race weekend. It is your responsibility to know the information, so please ensure you read the guide thoroughly. BIB COLLECTION/REGISTRATION Where: Town Green Inn (Upper Level), 6 Horton Street, Port Macquarie, NSW 2444. When: Saturday, September 29th A maximum of 30 minutes will be allocated at the start of each event for bib collection and on the day entries. Beach to Brother cannot guarantee entry or collection during this time due to the staging of the event. What time: 11:00am to 3:00pm Please bring: PHOTO IDENTIFICATION Photo ID is required to be presented at registration so staff can confirm your identity and check you off the registered participant list. Once confirmed you will be issued with your RACE BIB and attached TIMING CHIP. You will also receive a wrist band. A different colour band will identify you as having purchased a return bus. Whilst at registration, why not enjoy a drink or a bite to eat from Town Green Inn’s beautiful menu. Town Green Inn will be providing fantastic pre-race food options at a great cost to competitors and their family/friends. MERCHANDISE Event singlets, visors and race hats are available for purchase at bib collection on a first serve basis. Limited numbers of each merchandise is available. BUS TICKETS Bus tickets need to be purchased during online registration. A wrist band will be issued to those who have booked a seat on the return to start bus service. If there are spare bus tickets they will be available for purchase during bib collection at a cost of $10.00. Please note that no card payments can be accepted on the day. Safety vests and advice will be available for collection from the registration area, at Town Green Inn, Level 1, Port Macquarie from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 29th September. RACE BIBS & ELECTRONIC TIMING Your race bib number is specific to you. On the reverse of the bib is a MYLAPS timing chip. Please do not bend or fold your race bib as it could cause damage to the timing chip. Wear your race bib on the front of your chest where it is clearly visible, or by using a race belt on your front . The timing chip will automatically record your time if worn correctly and undamaged. Timing recorded on the day will be GUN time. Event results will be published on www.sporthive.com and on the beach to brother website within 24hrs of the event concluding. We understand the desire to see instant results. Please be patient as we are running a small event with limited resources. Note: If you damage your timing chip or wear your race number incorrectly, you may not receive a recorded time for the event. Beach to Brother will not accept responsibility for unrecorded times; prizes will only be awarded to those with recorded times. RESULTS AND PRIZES Full and official results will be available on the Beach to Brother website within 24hrs of the event finish. All finishers will receive the 2018 Beach to Brother Trail Running Festival. Beach to Brother cannot guarantee medals for Saturday and Sunday registrations. PriZes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female for the Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10km Dash only. Winners must be at the priZe giving awards, at Town Green Inn Port Macquarie, to receive their priZe; no priZes will be posted out to, or collected by another person on behalf of, the priZe winner. COURSE SIGNAGE Pink surveyors tape, VO2 Performance markers, and whit corflute with red arrows will be placed along the course to help ensure you run in the correct direction and to ensure your safety. Please keep your eye out for direction signage. Critical sections of the course, including sections where road crossings are required, will be manned by course Marshal’s wearing fluorescent-yellow safety vests. Please follow their direction at all times. If a Course Marshal requires you to stop for traffic you must adhere to their decision. Failure to stop if requested will guarantee your disqualification. FIRST AID First aid staff will be located at each aid station and at the finish line of the event. St John Ambulance will be on the course to ensure competitor safety. If you need first aid please see one of the race Marshals for assistance (wearing fluorescent yellow vest). If you see another competitor that needs first aid attention, please provide assistance if you can, and ask a fellow competitor to notify a race Marshal of the incident and location. SAFETY ON COURSE • There are sections of the course that can be deemed a haZard, please use caution at all times. • Do not take any unnecessary risks or place you or others in any danger at any time. • Follow signage at all times. • Follow the Marshal’s directions at all times. • Do not deviate from the marked course. • Do not cross a road unless safe to do so. • Give way to pedestrian traffic – this is not a closed course. In the event of an emergency, When you see the below sign, run in single Hazardous sections ahead – use Marshals will direct you to the file, do not overtake unless safe to do so, and extreme caution and DO NOT closest emergency evacuation always give way to public pedestrians OVERTAKE START PROCEDURES All races are mass start. To provide the best possible start, please ensure you self-seed according to your ability. The first few kilometers of the marathon distance runs along the Coastal Pathway in Port Macquarie and will require single file in certain sections. This is not a closed course, so please give way to pedestrians at all times. The ability to carry fluids is essential, and the only mandatory item required on the course. For the 2017 event, fluids available will include supplies from our sponsor Hammer Nutrition Australia, and water. September can get quite hot and humid in the Port Macquarie region; therefore, carbohydrate free electrolytes will be provided as the main fluid source on the course. This will be in the form of Hammer Nutrition FiZZ http://www.hammernutrition.com/products/endurolytes-fiZZ-reg-.elf.html in various flavours. In addition to the on-course nutrition, it is strongly advised that runners have a race plan prepared.
