Admissions 3 The school’s current admission arrangements adhere to the published criteria of the East Riding of Yorkshire. The catchment area covers the whole of Reedness Parish and the Parish of Twin Rivers which extends to include Adlingfleet, in total a distance of six miles along the riverside and three miles onto Swinefleet Common. Children can be admitted from outside this area providing the school's admission limit is not exceeded: There is an admissions limit of fifteen pupils per year. Parents have to express a preference for a place at a school, and those that do express a preference have to be given priority over those who do not express such a preference. Admission Preference Forms are available in school. Parents are now encouraged to apply online for places at schools. All pupils are admitted to school in the September of the academic year in which they are five years old. When a place has been confirmed for your child in the Reception class, the school will contact you to invite you to an introductory meeting at school in the summer term. In September 2008 the school changed status so that we can now admit Nursery children. They join the Reception and Year 1 children with a qualified teacher and nursery nurse. This provides a strong, high quality Early Years curriculum for our youngest pupils. Admission as a Nursery pupil is in the term after your child has his/her third birthday. When a place has been confirmed for your child in the nursery, the school will contact you to arrange a visit to your home and to invite you to an introductory meeting at school. Some children join the school at other ages and part-way through the school year. We encourage parents to visit the school with their child first so that all needs can be catered for and a successful start can be organised with the class teacher. Free minibus transport is provided for all pupils who live more than two miles from school but still within the school’s catchment area, and for children in Whitgift. One minibus services Swinefleet Common, the other Adlingfleet, Ousefleet and Whitgift. Pupils living in these directions but LESS than two miles away may use the minibus if space is available. It is essential that parents seek up to date clarification in the admissions policy from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The council policy governs all admissions to this school. It is published on the East Riding of Yorkshire Website. Please note admissions policies are subject to alteration due to new legislation, legal precedent and Council Policy changes. 4 School Governors 2016/2017 Chair of Governors Mrs R Dixon Vice Chair Mrs H Taylor Parent Governor Vacant LA Governor Mrs M Gunson LA Governor Mr P Gunson Community Governor Mrs G Allcock Head Teacher Mr L Jackson Staff Governor Mrs. J Cooper Staff Governor Mr M Herbert Clerk to the Governors Ms G Johnson The aim and roles of the Governors The Governors’ aim is to support the Head Teacher in the day-to-day running of the school.
