Nathan O. Hatch President THE PRAYER OF INVOCATION ........................................ The Reverend Timothy L. Auman University Chaplain THE HYMN: “I Sing the Mighty Power” ..................................................FOREST GREEN I sing the mighty power of God that made the mountains rise, That spread the fl owing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day; The moon shines full at God’s command and all the stars obey. I sing the goodness of the One who fi lled the earth with food; Who formed the creatures with a word, and then pronounced them good. O God, your wonders are displayed wherever I turn my eye; If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky! There’s not a plant or fl ower below but makes your glories known; And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from your throne; While all that borrows life from you is ever in your care, And everywhere that I may be, you, God, are present there. DALE BUMPERS, Doctor of Laws The Honorable Dale Bumpers represented a new breed of progressive Southern leaders when he was elected governor of Arkansas in 1970 and to the U.S. Senate in 1974. During his twenty-four years in the Senate, he was widely admired for his ethical and principled positions, most notably his devotion to the sanctity of the U.S. Constitution. Throughout his public career, he, along with his wife, Betty, strongly advocated better health care for children.
