Today, Yalumba maintains its reputation for premium quality fortified wines by occasionally releasing very small parcels of show reserve stocks. Luscious and intense, this gloriously indulgent dessert wine is made from Muscat grapes that are picked late for sweetness and aged in barrels for up to 10 years. NV: 92 WE EDEN VALLEY VIOGNIER Eden Valley Sourced from Australia’s first significant Viognier vineyard, Yalumba has pioneered the growing and making of Viognier in Australia since 1980. This wine is Yalumba’s quintessential Viognier and is fermented for 10 months in older French oak. Apricot fruit aromas and flavors with long luscious texture and hints of orange oil to finish. 2016: 92 JS, 90 WS THE MENZIES CABERNET SAUVIGNON Coonawarra Estate grown at Yalumba’s Coonawarra vineyard, the Menzies is an exceptional site in the heart of Coonawarra’s legendary terra rossa strip. Grapes for ‘The Menzies’ are drawn from nine individual subplots within the vineyard, with the core original plantings dating back to 1975. These low yielding vines consistently produce grapes with strong color and intense flavors and each batch is separately fermented in small lots to maximize complexity and blending options. Yalumba’s own coopers hand craft the French Allier barrels, with only the most outstanding barrels selected. This approach ultimately results in the finest expression of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. 2014: 93 JS OLD BUSH VINE GRENACHE Barossa Vineyards Yalumba has some of the oldest Grenache vines in the Barossa, with fruit for this wine being sourced from vines planted in 1898. Grenache is considered the unsung hero of Barossa and the vineyard’s old bush vines produce low yields of concentrated fruit. The majority of fruit is sourced from vines aged 35 – 70 years. The wine is fragrant, fresh and full of red cherries, raspberries and crunchy pomegranates with savory characters evolve into spices and dried herbs. 2016: 93 W&S Barossa Vineyards THESIGNATURE CABERNET SAUVIGNON–SHIRAZ Yalumba has remained steadfast in its commitment to that most quintessential Australian wine style—the Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz blend.
