MEDIA STATEMENT 26 July 2016 OUTWARD BOUND SINGAPORE INCIDENT NEAR PUNGGOL JETTY An incident involving an Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) boat and a small fishing boat occurred near the Punggol Point Jetty on Sunday, 24 July 2016, 7.05 am. 2 The OBS boat was departing Punggol Jetty towards Pulau Ubin on a routine ferrying trip involving OBS staff. In the incident, a man who was piloting the fishing boat fell overboard. 3 OBS staff rescued the man, and rendered immediate first-aid. He was subsequently evacuated to a hospital at 7.30 am via ambulance and is currently receiving medical attention for his injuries. 4 Our staff are in contact with the man and his family, and providing them with the necessary assistance. We are also cooperating with the relevant authorities investigating the incident. 5 The National Youth Council and OBS (a division under NYC) take a serious view of all safety incidents. We constantly seek to review and improve our operational processes and safety procedures.
