Qualified students begin graduate study in their senior year; such a program may lead to simultaneous completion of requirements for both master’s and bachelor’s degrees. STEM Path to the MBA The STEM Path to the MBA focuses on attracting high-quality undergraduate students majoring in the science, technology, engineering and math disciplines. The program is an innovative approach to engage students early on as undergraduates and employ nontraditional classroom methods to allow top students to complete the MBA in one additional calendar year. The purpose of the path is to provide high-achieving students with the business knowledge needed to successfully manage high-tech businesses. The initiative focuses on undergraduates from the disciplines of engineering, biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology, marine science, mathematics, microbiology, nursing, and physics. Student Organizations Constant Involvement. A mark of our future professionals is their commitment to community and development, and our MBAs take an active lead in being the leaders of several noteworthy organizations on campus. MBA Association The MBA Association is a student-governed organization serving students pursuing the Master of Business Administration. The organization is committed to providing service to the state of Alabama, as well as a social and professional network for our current and past members. CSCMP The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals is the student chapter of the most prominent organization for the field of supply chain and operations management. Each year Manderson students meet with industry leaders, participate in roundtable discussions, and attend the CSCMP National Conference. MBA Women International MBA Women International is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering female business professionals, to developing skills for leadership positions in business, and to enhancing the diversity of the workforce worldwide. Each year, Manderson students expand their networks by attending the MBAWI National Conference. 4 National Black MBA The Manderson Chapter of the National Black MBA Association is dedicated to developing partnerships that result in the creation of intellectual and economic wealth in the community. In partnership with over 400 of the country's top business organizations, the association has inroads into a wide range of industries as well as the public and private sector. The organization provides members with the opportunity to attend one of the largest career fairs in the country as well as a nationally recognized business case competition. This past year, Manderson students helped establish a resume workshop to assist children in Tuscaloosa County Schools. Net Impact Net Impact brings MBAs, graduate students and young professionals together to network, learn, and take action on socially responsible business issues. Consistent with the name, the organization has a national mission to improve the world by growing and strengthening a network of new leaders who use the power of business to make a positive net social, environmental, and economic impact. Dual Degree Programs JD/MBA Program Backed by the world-class faculty and powerful alumni networks of both The University of Alabama School of Law and Alabama’s Manderson School of Business, the JD/MBA Program offers both a three- and four-year curriculum. Participating students emerge from the cross-disciplinary course of study with highly marketable skills positioning them for success in today’s global environment. Alabama’s JD/MBA students are immersed in a rigorous set of classes, and are involved in real business and legal situations with the opportunity to interact with key executives and practicing attorneys. Engineering/MBA Engineering and MBA graduates from The University of Alabama offer more than just technical knowledge to their future employers-- they combine essential financial skills with engineering through two innovative dual-degree programs. Students earn master’s degrees in engineering and business administration in two years, and the programs are specific for civil engineering and mechanical engineering. As Alabama’s automotive, manufacturing, energy, construction and civil engineering industries continue to expand, financial business skills are more essential to guiding engineering projects.
