The Product Manual presents 200 museums and locations represented by 20 cultural institutions spread all over the country. They offer a wide range of collections and exhibitions that portray an aspect of Norway’s unique geography, history, art, architecture, music, cuisine and economy. Regardless whether the focus is costal experience or heritage, mountain walks or hiking, art or music, suitable for adults or children, the museums in Norway offer an exciting range of events held throughout the year that celebrate N orwegian folklore, music and dance; the achievements of our Viking forefathers; the adventures of our explorers, or the triumphs of modern engineering. Our museums offer family-friendly activities, guided tours, and stage special events throughout the year that enable our guests, (be they travelling as groups or individuals), to meet local residents and try local cuisine. Many museums, as indicated in the Product Manual, can also offer meeting facilities and arrange customised tour-experiences. So please, never hesitate to ask! With so many locations we have chosen to present some key information about each museum while referring to their webpages for further details and updated information on prices and opening hours etc. This version is based on information compiled in March 2021 and subject to change. The main building, designed by Christian Heinrich Grosch was completed in 1830. It was adapted and extended by Sverre Fehn (1924–2009), who was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1997.
