The consultation for this proposal will start on 17 January 2018 and, AT THAT TIME, full details of the proposal in this Notice can be viewed on our website www.westsussex.gov.uk/tro. The annual review of the Crawley Residents Parking Scheme (RPS) aims to maximise on- street parking places and make alterations to existing parking and waiting restrictions due to changes in need. It is proposed to formalise a number of advisory disabled bays and replace redundant disabled bays with additional parking bays. Additional parking bays will be designated in Hastings Road and outside new residential properties in West Street. It is proposed to remove parking bays across a new dropped kerb in Coppice Walk, remove parking bays that are in too close proximity to a crossing on Horsham Road and remove parking bays where there is insufficient road width to allow parking on both sides of Forge Road. The Pay & Display parking bays in Telford Place are under used so it is proposed to allow permit holders to also use them As part of a programme to standardise RPS across West Sussex it is proposed that the Crawley RPS signs will no longer include the exemption “except for bank holidays”. It is considered the exemption is to the detriment of residents encouraging visitors to park in residential areas. Removal of the exemption will reduce the amount of wording on the traffic signs and therefore reduce the visual impact. It is not intended that enforcement will automatically take place on bank holidays but it does allow the option of reactive enforcement to be undertaken where obstructive parking issues are reported. The opportunity is being taken at the same time to amend some of the labelling on the TRO Schedule plans although the restrictions as enacted on the ground will not alter. This Order is proposed to improve the amenity of the area through which the roads run and to facilitate the passage on the road of any class of traffic. Plan Nos.
