Each and every year since The NASCAR Foundation came into existence, we have seen just how special that family is, as it helps the foundation achieve its goals. There is no doubt that 2014 was the best year yet for The NASCAR Foundation. 3 The fourth annual “High Speed Hold ’Em” poker tournament was held in February 2014, raising $150,000 for the Speediatrics children’s care unit at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach. The tournament has quickly found a niche during the area’s annual season-opening Speedweeks. It is building its own tradition, to the benefit of the community and its children. 3 The fourth annual Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award presentation was an emotional highlight of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards show last December at Wynn Las Vegas. After an extensive nine-month process that included gathering nominations from throughout the nation, determining four national finalists and then conducting several months of on-line voting to decide the winner, the award was presented to 32-year-old Daniel Noltemeyer of Louisville, Kentucky. Daniel, who has Down syndrome, was a most-deserving winner. As a national and international spokesman for Best Buddies Kentucky and Best Buddies International – organizations that spotlight the importance of social inclusion regarding people facing developmental and educational challenges – he personifies the selfless volunteerism, the caring and the compassion the award is meant to honor. This year promises to be special as well, starting with the exciting announcement that Nationwide Insurance has become the presenting sponsor of the Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award. This is a partnership that truly “raises the bar” for the award. As we go forward in 2015, our enthusiasm is boundless, our commitment steadfast. And that is because of the support MISSION & IMPACT we receive on a daily basis from all of you. Again, thank you so very much for helping the grand visions and dreams of The NASCAR Foundation become realities. The NASCAR Foundation is dedicated to giving children the Sincerely, power to win, through a variety of opportunities focused on education, health and volunteerism. Since 2006, we have committed more than $20 million to initiatives that inspire Betty Jane France children around the country to live, learn and play.
