Name Address ZIP Code Please share general feedback about pedestrian and bicycle matters in the City of Naples. Hugh Hawkins 1255 Gulf Shore Blvd N 6S 34102 Need more space for cyclists on roads I walk from Seagate to Gulfshore and go through an area frequented by bikers. Many are very rude and ride their bikes through the connecting lanes and we have been almost hit a few times by a biker. They seem to think they do not have to obey any rules or look out for Diane Zore 333 Devils Bight 34103 anyone but themselves. It clearly says on the signs that they should walk bikes through, but very few do. Somehow steering the serious bicycle riders (large packs traveling at high speed) to their own areas, or designated timeframes, would be helpful. There are times when Gulf Shore Blvd in Old Naples becomes dangerous for walkers and cars because of these large packs traveling Chris Wilson 252 1st Ave South 34102 at high speeds. The city streets and storm water and city manager should stop trying to cram bike lanes and sidewalks down residents throats. Their separate survey is biased and only offers opens for change. Just because they got money from the state, doesn’t make it right. His survey offers an 34102 equal voice to everyone - including people worldwide who have never even been to Naples. I do not have a car and rely on my bicycle to do my shopping. It would be nice to have a dedicated bike route from downtown to Wynn’s. I do 34102 not feel very confident riding in traffic. Lukas Krapf 925 Wedge Drive 34103 Naples is just a wonderful city. Thank you very much for your service. 34103 Everybody to be more careful during the busy times of the year! Bikers are out of control on Gulf Shore Blvd. North. There should be a priority for those vehicles owned by residents not the bike riders who don't need to ride through and look at the pretty buildings. Cycle clubs, tours and large exercise groups should be prohibited from racing through residential areas in large groups or tours together. As they do now. Bikers seldom pay attention to traffic and safety rules and are a major safety hazard, particularly for elderly residents...racing and biking along gulf shore Blvd. In park shore area must be prohibited, tandem riding prohibited and safe biking rules enforced...some Lance Armstrong wannabes and visiting biker rides think they own the streets in the area and/or believe the entire Park Shore neighborhood is just one big bike park built for their use and enjoyment and not the residents who pay to live there...this needs to STOP Today ! Gulf Shore is first and foremost a residential street for those who live there and NOT another John Everson 4021 Gulf Shore Blvd., North 34103 public park for the city of Naples residents to simply meander through. Need to complete missing sidewalk links in Old Naples and add sidewalks in neglected neighborhoods like Lake park and Sun Terrace. Need 34103 to add bike lanes on Crayton Road in Park Shore. Jeri 1170 22nd Ave N 34103 Our sidewalks need more shade along 41 and Goodlette for sure!! Most concerning is Drivers that are Distracted. No matter how great we make our paths and signage, if the driver is not paying attention to 34103 me and my family in our Bike Lane, we are in grave danger. The current situation is quite good. Creating more bike paths like The Greenway would be awesome. Connecting Olde Naples to the food Suzanne Rowland 620 2nd St S 34102 trucks and botanic garden and east Naples pickleball would be great. Certainly Naples is trying to improve on connecting bicycle and bicycle facilities. Which we are grateful for. The timing at crosswalks with 34102 traffic need improvement. We wait a while at traffic lights trying to cross. Cell phone use by bike riders should be outlawed. It’s very difficult to drive safely with so many inexperienced bikers taking up so much of Cynthia Scholl 555 Regatta Rd 34103 the street! Bike riders should Not be riding with their back to traffic. They can't see or hear what's behind them and should be riding looking at on Bonnie Dillenbeck 14500 Tamiani Trail E 34114 coming traffic. The bike lanes are to close to the road where traffic is driving in. Bikes should be further away from All vehicles. Gregg Cantor 7848 Clemson Street 34104 Naples Gulf shore Blvd between Naples beach hotel south to downtown Naples needs more dedicated bike and pedestrian paths. It is a dangerous combination of moving cars and bikes and pedestrians especially during season. Dedicated bike paths are important to safely connect the city Jon Berlie 314 Turtle Hatch Rd 34103 with those who are out for exercise. Ashley Pennebaker 245 Burning Tree Dr 34105 Naples Dave Winebrenner 626 Palm Circle West 34102 Compared to other cities, biking is generally very good in Naples. During the high season, it can be more scary. Carolyn paget 289 Spring Line Drive 34102 the bikes are a hazard and the riders don't followthe rules There are too many cars The city should prioritize leisurely and commuter bicycles. Many of the sport cyclists ride in the road but behave as pedestrians and make 34112 things more difficult for pedestrians, cars, and casual bikers Bayshore is a bit scary with sometimes homeless people and no street lights on some streets. It also needs speed bumps on the side streets. Stacy Roberts 34112 Lots of speeding on smallest streets. If you want an example of large scale implementation of pathways shared by bicycle riders and pedestrians, look at the Georgia PATH 34110 program. Gulf shore boulevard after the Naples Beach Hotel has no bike lanes. We desperately need bike lanes all over, it would make me feel so much Marlene Korngold 234 Banyan Boulevard 34102 safer! I hate taking chances. We are lucky to have bike lanes, we just need more. I live on Broad Ct. S. There are five houses on the north side of this street that have garages exiting on the alley. The bicycle lanes are a great addition to 8th Street. However, when a car or truck is exiting the alley onto 8th Street it is now impossible to see on-coming traffic from the south because the ficus hedge on the corner property blocks the view. This hedge needs to be moved back like the hedge on the property on Marie Overman 733 Broad Court So. 34102 the north side of the alley. It is a traffic hazard and an accident waiting to happen. Widen NEIGHBORHOOD streets or make them one way in areas bikes must share streets: Crayton and Gulf Shore North from Naples Beach Club area to downtown especially. Those areas are notorious for both drivers and bikers to share anytime--much less busy season. When it 34103 comes to enforcement, many bikers are careless and ignore rules. You cannot have more people , more construction, more cars & trucks in a small city. We are headed to being a big city. We also need stop 34102 signs at every intersection, some streets have them & some streets don't. Not safe with all the tourists driving in the residential areas. Have you considered building a walkway overpass over US 41, at one or more sites, over Vanderbilt road, Airport Pulling road, just 34103 suggestions. 34102 Make a bike path on less traveled road like, 3 st or fourth st. Not Gulfshore blvd. Simply take the time to observe the number of bicycle commuters on Gulfshore Blvd between Mooringline Dr and 18th Ave S any Kurt Shearer 755 Pine Ct 34102 morning/early afternoon. It’s just a matter of time before someone on a bike is hit and killed I think gulf shore blvd and 2nd st sth should each become one way. One heading North, the other South. Each split in the middle of the road to give half the road space to cyclists and half to motorists. Cycling on the sidewalks should be stopped. As a cyclist and a pedestrian, it is obvious to me that mixing the two on a sidewalk is a recipe for disaster and there is no excuse for bikes to be on the sidewalk. Cycling in the direction of car traffic flow should be enforced. Riding a bicycle into oncoming car traffic, whether in a bike lane or not, is both stupid and 34102 dangerous. I see this most days around town. We need to better promote/enforce responsible cycling in the town. The South Gordon Drive Neighborhood Association and residents of the area are of the view that Gordon Drive south of Kingstown cannot and should not be the subject for modification to address pedestrian or bike traffic. Expansion of hardscape in this very narrow road and right of way would be uniquely problematic from environmental and safety perspectives. There is an outstanding historic record of bike and pedestrian safety in this area and it is our view that any future concerns by city planners can be adequately and appropriately addressed through signage and other information distribution. Also, it would help if signage was added just south of the intersection of Kingstown and South Gordon Drive that informs bicyclists that there is "NO OUTLET" and "THE ROAD AHEAD DOES NOT HAVE PEDESTRIAN OR BICYCLE iRL & SUE ENGELHARDT 4355 GORDON DRIVE 34102 LANES! DRIVERS, BICYCLISTS AND PEDESTRIANS SHOULD PROCEED WITH CAUTION AND SHARE THE ROAD!” We do not believe that Gordon Drive , South of Kingstown, should be subject to modification to address bike or pedestrian traffic.
