POLICE-EMS-SECURITY CYCLIST CERTIFICATION COURSE - June 5-8, 2017 General Information Location: Ohio Wesleyan University, 40 Rowland Avenue, Delaware OH 43015 Check-In: Sunday, June 4, 4:00-8:00pm, Monday, June 5, 6:45am-7:45am, Hamilton-Williams Campus Center (HWCC) Faculty/Staff Dining Room, First Floor. You will receive your namebadge and be directed to the appropriate classroom. Bike Check will open in HWCC, Lower Level at 12:00pm on Sunday, June 4. Schedule: The class will begin promptly at 8:00am on Monday. Please wear your full duty uniform. Your bike should be in the Bike Check area, fully assembled and ready to ride. Lunch will be served at noon each day. On Wednesday, June 7, class will be held from 1:00pm-11:00pm to accommodate Night Riding Operations. Be Prepared to Work Hard: This demanding class involves over 20 hours of on-bike time to develop and improve your riding skills. The remainder of the 32 hours will be spent in classroom sessions. Certification The course concludes on Thursday, June 8, at 5:00pm. IPMBA Police, EMS, and Security Cyclist Certificates will be presented to those students who successfully complete the course. You may attend workshops on Friday and Saturday as registered. MANDATORY EQUIPMENT & MATERIALS CHECKLIST DUTY BIKE ATTIRE Reputable manufacturer mountain bike in good Full duty uniform (worn daily) working order, properly fitted Shirt Street/combination tires (size 26-29 x 1.5 - 26-29 x 2.1; Shorts/Pants no knobbies) Padded cycling shorts (recommended) Pedal retention (including acceptable flat pedals/ Shoes shoes) Foul weather gear (jacket, pants) At least one water bottle cage & bottle Hydration delivery system (recommended) DUTY GEAR Headlight (42 lumens at 10 feet) Full duty belt (as applicable) L.E.D. steady or flashing red taillight Firearm (optional; this class will not include live-fire) Rear mount kickstand Magazine Baton Heavy duty equipment rack & rack bag Handcuffs Cuff key Panniers (EMS) Flashlight Keepers Derailleur guard (recommended) TOOLS OTHER Patch kit Pencil/Pen Tire levers Notebook Two spare tubes Sunscreen The enclosed PAR-Q (required) and medical clearance sheet Compact tire pump or CO2 Disposable rubber gloves (if indicated by PAR-Q) Signed IPMBA waiver (to be signed on-site) SAFETY EQUIPMENT Note: Instructors are not equipped to supply students with the Eye protection – wraparound, clear and tinted above materials.
