ANNUAL REPORT | 7 WHAT WE DO Professional Education builds a skilled and productive workforce, improves livelihoods, and develops sustainable communities. The PEF mission is directly linked to developing young entrepreneurs and professionals that will help in increasing economic activity across Pakistan. PEF is currently funding the education costs of 1800 deserving students and provides hostel fees to a selected number of students. At PEF, we give scholarships and financial assistance to the students on Need cum Merit Base. A student, after getting admission on open merit can apply to the universities that are on our Board. We give scholarship fees directly to the university, so a student getting admission has to apply through the student affairs department of the respective university. After ensuring merit and following a transparent selection process, PEF provides funds directly to the 36 public sector universities across Pakistan for professional education in the fields of Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Technology and Management. PEF monitors the student’s progress regularly and keeps in touch with them. His father was a clerk at a company but left due to downsizing and was jobless for 14 years. To support his family and continue his education, Bilal gave part-time tuitions. His younger brother was a special child and had been bed-ridden since birth. He would get seizures daily due to breathing difficulties and finally breathed his last in 2016. His father passed away in 2005 so children. Supporting such a large family was his uncle supported the family but he could not not easy for him. Due to these constraints, Irfan continue as he was a farmer and did not earn started working at a shop for Rs.20 per day, but much. his main focus was education. Zain topped every class till Matric and attained first position in his district. He saw an advertisement about a full FSc scholarship. He appeared in the test and topped in KPK. After doing his FSc, Zain appeared for the entrance test of AMC and got outstanding marks. Since he did not have money to pay for his fees, he fall into depression.
