Cr Ann-Maree Greaney Division 3 Update Magnetic Island Campaign For the first time, Townsville City Council has used a 1000-tonne barge to transport equipment to Magnetic Island ahead of an extensive works program. The cargo included 600 tonnes of quarry gravel, a 20-tonne excavator, a steel drum roller and a grader. Council will complete more than 30 projects and will have an ongoing presence on the island this financial year which will be a great boost for the island. Can I take this opportunity to thank locals and tourists for their patience during these projects. Council will do all it can to minimise disruptions at each site. Stable on the Streets 2020 will see the launch of ‘Stable on the Streets’ instead of ‘Stable on The Strand’. Stable on the Streets is an invitation for individuals, families, groups and churches to give a gift of love to the people of Townsville by expressing in their space (driveway, shop front, car, veranda, street etc.) the true meaning of Christmas and we hope that everyone will participate in some way. As part of NAFA, Beauty Rich and Rare, a digital exhibition returned to Australia following a hugely successful run at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. The breathtaking exhibition explored the wonder botanist Sir Joseph Banks felt on his voyage from England to Australia 250 years ago. It was a wonderful exhibition held at The Ville Resort-Casino that was well received by the community.
