Having Australia’s best young talent participating in the state over the fortnight of the Championships will be one of the highlights of the 2017/18 season for Tasmanian Cricket. This will be the twelfth Championships we have hosted in the past eleven seasons, a terrific vote of confidence in the experience of our host clubs and ground authorities to stage major national tournaments. Venues throughout Greater Hobart and Launceston will host Championship matches, which is an exciting expansion to include grounds and clubs in Northern Tasmania in the event. I would like to thank the volunteers from our host clubs for their contribution to hosting the event, and all ground authorities for their ongoing outstanding support preparing quality pitches and grounds. The Championship is a key component of the talent pathway and I wish all participants well, and look forward to seeing which players from this event become future stars of Australian Cricket. I was lucky enough to play the West Indies in Barbados which is a terrific place to play. Ricky Ponting presented my Baggy Green which was even better. I grew up in Tassie watching ‘Punter’ and he’d been the favourite son of Tasmanian cricket for a very long time, so it was a pretty special moment to get my Baggy Green presented by arguably one of the best players that’s ever played the game for Australia. What are the highlights of your cricketing career - do you have a favourite moment? I’ve been lucky enough to play a few grand finals and win a few premierships.
