INFORMATION DIGEST SUPPORT FROM THE START GROUP NEWS AND INFO Prestonpans— Great fun was had by all at the Go Mad with Dad’s event on Saturday 31st August S Tranent - working on Parents Pathway which will be launched at Getting Ready to Learn event on 23rd Sep- tember in the McNeill Room , Tranent Library, from 10:00—14:30 E Musselburgh—Suzanne Zeedyk event on 20th August proved very popular with approximately 150 attendees. Musselburgh area being largest of the groups with 3 discrete communities and diverse requirements is splitting into 3 sub-groups all falling under the main Musselburgh area group. Jane Cummings and Pamela Martin are P now assisting Ann Hume by co-leading in the Musselburgh area Dunbar . For those who may not have had the chance to hear Suzanne Zeedyk; she is a particularly inspiring, insightful and thought provoking speaker, and the content she delivered at the Quayside in Musselburgh was T very well received. It is worth looking at her website for stimulating articles and information about Early Years. The event also offered the opportunity to hear about initiatives within East Lothian such as PEEP, which the E Dunbar and Area group are particularly interested in, and are hoping to develop delivery of PEEP for parents living in our area. Families can bring their toddler along to find out more about Prestongrange by exploring through songs, stories, games and crafts. Running in two separate sessions, these events have been specially designed for young children and their families. Sessions will include the opportunity to explore an area of the museum, to learn about the objects and creatures at Prestongrange, and to have fun together. Sessions will run on Tuesday 3, 17 and 24 September, with the 0-2years session at 10.00 am and the 2-4 years session at 10.30am. Tuesday 3 September will involve joining Preston the mole on a mini beast adventure, playing some games and making butterfly finger puppets. It is important to book in advance by contacting the museum, either by telephone (0131 653 2904) or e-mail ([email protected]) or simply by dropping in to the visitor centre.Prestongrange is a great place for under-5s to visit with their families, with lots of grassy space to play and places to explore. It has a children’s area in the visitor centre with toys, art materials and story books. There is also a baby changing space, outdoor games and the site is pushchair friendly.
