Previous meetings • The sides met for the first time in a competitive fixture on 15 November, Stevan Jovetić's penalty cancelling out Zlatan Ibrahimović's early strike in Podgorica to earn Montenegro a 1-1 Group G draw. • Montenegro previously met Sweden in their fourth game after being admitted to UEFA, losing 2-1 at home on 12 September 2007. • Nikola Drinčić and Milorad Peković made their debuts for Zoran Filipović's side, and Mirko Vučinić (16) headed Montenegro in front, only for Markus Rosenberg (70) and Rade Prica (74) to strike back and earn a win for Lars Lagerbäck's Sweden. Form guide • Sweden remain unbeaten in Group G (W2 D3). • Montenegro are without a win since their opening Group G fixture, a 2-0 success against Moldova. Their most recent match, at home against Russia, was abandoned due to crowd trouble, and declared forfeit. As a consequence, Montenegro were deemed to have lost the game 3-0. • Montenegro have not won in four competitive away contests (D2 L2) since a 1-0 victory in Moldova during 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Trivia and links • Montenegro's Dejan Damjanović has already hit the woodwork three times in UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying – more than any other player at the halfway stage. • The nations have met in three UEFA age-group competitions, with Sweden's record in those matches reading: W0 D1 L2. Montenegro failed to score in any of those fixtures. 3 Sweden - Montenegro Sunday 14 June 2015 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Friends Arena, Solna Squad list Sweden Current season Qual. Began coaching at junior level before taking on his first senior posts with Swedish second-tier sides Väsby, Brommapojkarna and Vasalund. • Joined Allsvenskan outfit Degerfors in 1994 and moved on a year later to AIK. Guided the Stockholm club to three successive Swedish Cup finals, losing the first, in 1995, and winning the next two. Lifted the cup for a third time in 2000 with his next team Örgryte after two-legged final victory against AIK. Stayed for six seasons before going abroad in January 2004 to coach Danish side AaB. • Led AaB to the 2007/08 Danish Super League title – just the third championship in their history – yet announced mid-season he would be leaving at the end of the campaign for Rosenborg. • Masterminded runaway Tippeligaen title triumph for Rosenborg in his first full season. Replaced long-serving Sweden coach Lars Lagerbäck in November 2009, also remaining with Rosenborg until the onset of UEFA EURO 2012 qualification in September 2010. • Proved an immediate success in his new role, guiding Sweden to the finals thanks to a defeat of the Netherlands on the last day of qualifying, though they fell in the group stage. Missed out on the 2014 FIFA World Cup in a play-off with Portugal. Branko Brnović Date of birth: 8 August 1967 Nationality: Montenegrin Playing career: FK Budućnost Podgorica, FK Partizan, RCD Espanyol, FK Kom Coaching career: Montenegro (assistant), Montenegro • Regarded as one of the most talented midfielders in the former Yugoslavia, Brnović started his club career at Budućnost and was soon making an impact on the international stage. • Won the FIFA U-20 World Cup with Yugoslavia in 1987 alongside such future stars as Davor Šuker, Predrag Mijatović and Zvonimir Boban. Played every game, scoring twice, and was named in the team of the tournament. • Left Budućnost in 1991 for Partizan, with whom he lifted back-to-back national titles and two domestic cups. Also established himself in the senior Yugoslavia side, and then Serbia and Montenegro's team, going on to win 27 caps in total. • Moved to Spain and spent six seasons with Espanyol, making 146 Liga appearances. Hung up his boots in 2000, yet six years later came out of retirement for a half-season cameo at Kom after Montenegro's independence from Serbia. • A member of Montenegro's coaching staff since February 2007, he began as Zoran Filipović's assistant before staying on in the same role under Zlatko Kranjčar. In September 2011, he replaced Kranjčar at the Montenegro helm and signed a two-year contract extension after 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying.
